The Problem: Large projects can be difficult to start.
The Trick: Instead of trying to start the project, list the steps
you would do to complete it.
The Secret: We don’t resist planning nearly as much as doing.
How it works: Creating a list of small specific steps makes it’s
easier for your brain to say “oh, I can do that!” For example,
it’s easier to get started with “Find accountant’s phone number”
than with “Handle taxes”.
Your goal isn’t to make a short list, it’s to leave nothing out.
Many small items on a list gives you a feeling of progress as you
check things off. It’s more fun too.
Have a great weekend.
Focus like a laser on what really matters, learn how to actually get yourself to do it so you can accomplish your goals.

Great advice as always. I also use a mind map where I put the main task in the middle and then brainstorm all the steps needed, around that. It jogs your memory for ideas and elps introduce more advanced ideas.
Food for thought

Thanks John. I agree, mind mapping is fantastic stuff.
Thanks, Aaron & John. We’re in the middle of a big project. I confess to using Outlook Tasks and even occasionally creating a task for something I’ve already done as a “feel good.” Also helps to see your tracks as well as where you’re going in case you have to backtrack.
Maybe I’ll mind map the big picture & see if I’m wired to function from mental plane to tangibles. Fun is good!
Great stuff.
Somewhat like info in my book
LIFEAHOLIC-Workaholic to Lifeaholic. From my Rev.Dad who advised me: “Son, work for a Life not just a Living”. He was telling me to stop ignoring family by working 70-80 hour weeks.
My boss of 20 years had clean desk all the time.
Do it. RIGHT NOW. TOP DOWN SEQUENCE OF $$$ PRIORITY. LEARN TO LEARN.
7500 employees and his door to office always open to anyone. Never sweat the small stuff.
Your material could be very useful to most Executives in America.
I have seen waste of time so many times in Turn Around of companies we bought.
We learned much about our own inefficiencies.
Biggest does not mean Best.
We went from small firm to 27,000 employees and largest in our product line in America.
In each firm I helped on turn around the problem was ONE person. He would not listen to warnings by his employees.
Many concentrated on COSTS when major problem was REVENUE.
I have seen so many shockingly dumb dumb decisions by Top Management in largest firms in America.
Your information is superb.

Thanks so much for the advice, it’s sooooo great!
I was actually stuck with a project, just to find myself desperated in knowing nothing to do. Now I can roll up the sleeve and start doing something!
And that feeling is fantastic, when you feel you have the control over the pile of work that needs done :)
